Overview of course

What can I expect?

The following units are included in this course and all are required for the award of the qualification. Students who only complete some units will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment for units successfully completed.

Training and assessment information

You will complete your learning and assessment for this qualification over 17 weeks in a mixed mode of delivery as outlined below.

Once you have enrolled in your qualification, you will be provided with a login into the learning management system where you will be able to access all your learning and assessment materials for the qualification.

You will work through all the learning content for each unit and complete a range of learning activities including knowledge checks.  You will also complete theory assessments (knowledge questions) for each unit.

Once you have successfully completed this part of the course, you will be sent a link to the course calendar for upcoming dates for you to book in for a 2 day practical training session at our Mackay campus based on your availability and our pre-requisite of 2 weeks prior to the practical days training. The 2 day practical training session will allow you to develop your skills in air conditioning hygiene.

Following the practical session, you need to complete a range of practical activities to do with cleaning and sanitising air conditioning systems and document these in your Logbook. This will also form part of your assessment and you will have 5 weeks to undertake the required activities.

Once you have completed this component, you are to submit your Logbook to your assessor. If your assessor deems you have satisfactorily completed this assessment task you will be sent a link to the course calendar for upcoming dates for you to book in for your practical assessment session again at our Mackay campus.

Projects will also be completed for the elective units included in this qualification. You will also have 5 weeks to complete these projects following the practical training session. Some of these projects require online interaction with your assessor which will be discussed with you in more detail.

At the practical assessment session, your assessor will observe you and other students completing a range of activities to do with cleaning and sanitising air conditioning systems, and the application of corrosion protection products.

In addition to the learning and assessment outlined above, you will also need to complete approximately 5 hours of additional, unsupervised study per week including general reading and research for assessments.

You will also need to complete assessments for this course which may include:
  • Knowledge questions
  • Projects
  • Observations

Student support

We offer the following in relation to support:
  • one-to-one support from the trainer/assessor
  • reasonable adjustment in assessment.
You may not have studied for a while, may have English as a second language or need additional assistance with literacy or numeracy.

We will identify any additional support needs you may have at the time of application and enrolment and may prepare a Student Support Plan for you based on those needs.

Course credit

You can apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning) as per the information included in our Student Handbook, which is available at https://airhygienetraining.com.au/courses/student-handbook/

There will be no course credits available for our core modules as there is no other training available that covers the same content. Course credit may only apply to the electives included as part of our qualification if you have completed the exact module in another training course.

If you are granted course credit, this will affect your course fees as well as the duration of your course.  We will advise you in writing of changes to fees or course duration as a result of the credit. You will also be issued with a new Confirmation of Enrolment.

What are the entry requirements?

Airhygiene Training has the following entry requirements:
You must:
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Be able to access both split and ducted air conditioning systems.
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine your needs and assess suitability.
  • Have proficient English language skills to understand written and verbal course content and to complete assessments.

How much does it cost?

The costs for this course are as follows:
Course fees $2,697 – payable in 2 instalments as per the dates specified in your Offer Letter and Student Agreement
Non-tuition fees May apply and can be found in our Student Handbook on our website at https://airhygienetraining.com.au
Course fees do not include laptops or software – see information above.

A detailed payment plan and payment arrangements are provided in the Offer Letter and Student Agreement. You must pay all of your course fees on time. Non-payment of fees may result in cancellation of enrolment.

Please note that you will need to be able to access a computer and Internet to complete the distance learning component of the course.
